曹洞宗的来由及宗旨

曹洞宗,禅宗五家之一。出处有二说:一为取曹溪六祖慧能及六世孙洞山之名,二为取第二祖曹山、第一祖洞山之名。后者颠倒行次,为语便也。《祖庭事苑》七曰:“曹山即洞山之嗣子,今不言洞曹言曹洞者,亦犹慧远即慧持之师兄,但言持远而不言远持,盖由语便而无他。丛林或指曹为曹溪,盖不知世裔来历之远近,妄自牵合。”然以前者为近于真也。案:曹洞宗源出六祖弟子行思,行思传希迁,希迁传药山,药山传云岩,云岩传良价禅师(住瑞州洞山),洞山传本寂禅师(住抚州曹山)。其说立五位君臣以为宗要,五位者,正中偏、偏中正、正中来、偏中至、兼中到是也。

僧问曹山五位君臣旨诀。山云:“正位即属空界,本来无物;偏位即色界,有万形像。偏中正者,舍事入理。正中来者,背理就事。兼带者,冥应众缘,不随诸有,非染非净,非正非偏。故曰虚玄大道,无著真宗。从上先德,推此一位,最妙最玄,要当详审辨明。君为正位,臣为偏位。臣向君是偏中正,君视臣是正中偏,君臣道合是兼带语。”时有僧出问:“如何是君?”云:“妙德尊寰宇,高明朗太虚。”“如何是臣?”云:“灵机弘圣道,真智利群生。”“如何是臣向君?”云:“不堕诸异趣,凝情望圣容。”“如何是君视臣?”云:“妙容虽不动,光烛本无偏。”“如何是君臣道合?”云:“混然无内外,和融上下平。”又曰:“以君臣偏正言者,不欲犯中,故臣称君不敢斥言是也。此吾法之宗要也。”因作偈曰:“学者先须识自宗,莫将真际杂顽空。妙明体尽知伤触,力在逢缘不借中。出语直教烧不著,潜行须与古人同。无身有事超岐路,无事无身落始终。”

2009年6月2日,河北邢台玉泉禅寺举行第四届传法大典,十七位禅人由曹洞宗第四十八代传人净慧老和尚手中接过法卷,成为曹洞宗第四十九代传人,宗舜法师即为其中之一。
