2023年2月5日（农历正月十五）下午5时，传临济正宗第四十八世、佛光山开山星云大师在佛光山传灯楼开山寮圆寂，世寿97岁。一代宗师，同德日月，般若舟沉，大众痛失依怙，同声祈愿大师能乘愿再来。美国佛教联合会会长明予法师知悉星云大师安详示寂，特发唁电并书写挽联，表达对星云大师的深切缅怀之情。
